Enjoy the read!
What does “elope in Cinque Terre” mean?
As local Cinque Terre elopement photographers, we’ve documented countless elopements — and each one still feels like a new emotion. Choosing the Cinque Terre means choosing a warm, welcoming land filled with Italian charm and traditions known all over the world. The atmosphere you’ll experience and the scents you’ll breathe while walking through the villages will stay with you forever. Good vibes, slow rhythms, and pure relaxation — that’s what your Cinque Terre elopement feels like.
How and where to elope in Cinque Terre, Italy?
The most iconic and sought-after villages for a Cinque Terre elopement photoshoot are Manarola, Vernazza, and Riomaggiore — simply because they offer the classic postcard views that the Cinque Terre is famous for.

How long should we stay?
Here’s the truth: every time we meet a couple or a family to document their Cinque Terre experience, they always tell us the same thing — “We should have stayed longer here instead of Rome, Florence, Como, or Venice.” Big cities are beautiful, but they’re also noisy, crowded, and exhausting, especially in the summer heat. The Cinque Terre is the complete opposite. Here, you slow down. Time expands. After the chaos of the major cities, once you arrive in the Cinque Terre you naturally fall into the relaxed, authentic rhythm of this coastline. Yes, during summer the Cinque Terre gets crowded with tourists, but the scale is still completely different from Rome or Milan. Everything feels more human, more contained. And remember: there are no cars inside the villages — no traffic noise, no city pollution. Your lungs and your ears will thank you. We understand that after a long flight you want to see as many places as possible. It makes sense. But you also deserve the right amount of time to truly appreciate the place you’re visiting. If you’re choosing the Cinque Terre as your elopement destination, we recommend staying at least 3–4 nights. Give yourself time to breathe. Don’t jump from one train connection to another before you’ve even unpacked your luggage. Your body (and your mood) will be grateful. Take the chance to fully immerse yourselves in the Ligurian culture and make your Cinque Terre elopement a truly unforgettable experience.
Best activities to do for your Cinque Terre elopement
Get ready to celebrate your Cinque Terre elopement with memorable activities to enjoy with your partner.
Pesto experience at Nessun Dorma in Manarola — perfect if you love Italian food.
Cinque Terre boat tour along the Cinque Terre coastline — or, if you prefer something more adventurous, rent a kayak and explore at your own pace.
Wine tasting in the vineyards — raise your hand if you love wine! The Cinque Terre is full of amazing wines, and you can join a vineyard tour with tasting, like the one offered by Maria.
Beach day in Monterosso — how about a refreshing spritz under an umbrella by the sea?
Hiking — if you can’t stay still, the coastal trails connecting the villages are exactly what you need.
Let yourselves be inspired by the warmth, nature, and atmosphere that the Cinque Terre offers.
Official ceremony or symbolic ceremony?
From our experience, most Cinque Terre elopements we’ve documented were symbolic ceremonies. Couples often prefer to avoid paperwork and keep the experience light and stress-free. Of course, it’s a personal choice. If you’re dreaming of a small legal ceremony with the actual signing of marriage documents, we recommend contacting a Cinque Terre wedding planner who can guide you through the legal requirements.
Can I reserve a private spot for my vows?
Inside the villages, you cannot reserve public spaces, and during the day — especially from April to October — it’s nearly impossible to find a completely private area. But don’t worry; there are solutions. If you prefer privacy for your vows and ring exchange, you can schedule your Cinque Terre elopement photoshoot early in the morning, before the crowds arrive, or, like Jackie and Gary in the gallery below, book an apartment with an exclusive private terrace. This guarantees full privacy, and we can plan the session at the best time of day. Another option, especially if you love the sea, is booking a Cinque Terre boat tour. Or why not exchange your vows among the vineyards? Many local wineries offer guided vineyard tours with tastings — just tell them your idea. There are so many original ways to plan your Cinque Terre elopement.
Should I book a bouquet?
It’s not essential, but if you love flowers… why not? There are no specialized florists inside the Cinque Terre, so we usually collaborate with professionals from nearby towns. Here’s an example: you book an apartment with a private terrace and decide — besides the bouquet — to add a floral arch. Gorgeous! But keep something important in mind: in case of bad weather, your florist must be able to protect and preserve the flowers. Unless there’s a covered area, you risk needing to postpone everything, so make sure the florist has a solid Plan B. For us, eloping means fewer formalities and more lightness — fewer constraints, more freedom. But of course, feel free to choose what feels right for you. 🙂
We’ve never been to the Cinque Terre — can you help us choose the photo locations?
Absolutely. We are local Cinque Terre elopement photographers, and part of our job is guiding you through the villages and taking you to the most beautiful spots. Your only task is to enjoy the experience — we’ll take care of planning the entire Cinque Terre elopement photo tour. We usually finalize the route a few days before the session because we need to check the weather first and choose the best spots according to the light.
Where to stay in Cinque Terre for my elopement?
It depends on the season. If you’re planning a summer elopement and you want a view of the iconic colorful houses, we suggest staying in Riomaggiore, Vernazza, or Manarola. If you prefer a quieter area or want the sea as your main view, you can stay in less famous but equally beautiful towns like Moneglia, and then move easily by train to the Cinque Terre. The nearby towns share the same relaxed vibe — less crowded, less famous, but just as charming. If you love winter and want to plan a Cinque Terre winter elopement, keep in mind that many activities may be closed. In that case, we recommend staying in towns like Sestri Levante — small, charming, lively all year round, and beautifully similar in atmosphere to the Cinque Terre.
